The University of Auckland Pacific Islands Study Centre is dominated by the Fale Pasifika. The form and structure is based on the traditional Samoan Fale while the build merges modern technology and traditional technique.

Chester Buller

Manager Capital Works, CMDHB:

"Joe Holden was the Site Manager for Ebert Construction on the University of Auckland’s Fale Pasifika. The build was a difficult task involving non standard construction methodology and materials as one would expect for a Fale.

I was acting at the time as the University’s Client Representative and Project Manager.

"The project was delivered on time, below budget and to a good standard of quality. The Fale, understood to be the 2nd largest in the world, won many awards and is well recognised to the point it features regularly on television and is a favourite and special venue at the University.

"Joe was  responsible for the construction of the complex and took an active part in its success. Joe brings a proactive, inquisitive, problem solving approach to resolving building issues and has a particular strength in projects that are out of the norm. His direct, accommodating and outgoing manner is refreshing in an industry not well versed in such attributes."
